Hazegazer II builds up on the first phase implemented between October and December 2020. Under the initial phase of the project, UNDP, UNICEF, and People in Need (PIN) launched a platform www.hazegazer.mn to generate data from the citizenry on the air quality at specific locations in Ulaanbaatar City, highlighting the challenges people face surrounding air pollution. Hazegazer II will refine the existing platform adding a feature mapping water and soil environmental pollution in Ulaanbaatar.

People in Need has been implementing the second phase of the project between February and November 2022 in collaboration with the respective professors from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, Mongolian University of Life Sciences, and National University of Mongolia. The project will be further implemented with support from Fresh Water Resources and Nature Conservation Center. In collaboration with partners, PIN has been collecting water and soil samples across Ulaanbaatar to inform the citizens on environmental hazards in their community.
